Players and parents, becoming a Soccer Referee is a great way to learn more about the game of soccer, be part of the game in way that you haven't experienced, and earn money in the process. The Capital District has already started holding USSF Entry Level Referee Courses this winter/spring.

Clinic Descriptions
You must be 12 years old or older on April 1, 2009 to attend the course.
The entry level training course is a 16 hour course. It is designed to provide entry-level referee skills and information through classroom and field training for candidates. Emphasis is on preparing for youth program participation. Field emphasis is on practice of specific procedures. Administration of the USSF written test is included.
Successful Referee Candidates younger than 14 will earn a Level 9 USSF Referee Badge.
Successful Referee Candidates 14 years-old or older will earn a Level 8 USSF Referee Badge.
 
Although becoming a registered soccer referee is fairly simple, there are start-up expenses.
The Entry Level Course fee is $30 to MASRU.
The USSF Registration fee is $40 to USSF.
You will also need to buy a uniform and some basic equipment, (approximately $40 to $60+), before you referee your first game.

The courses are listed by date, level, district and community.
